You need to monitor what the engine is doing while you run these programs. If these are inserts it depends upon the table you are inserting to (any indexes?) and how you are performing the inserts. Table inserts do get a little slower as the table grows, but nowhere to this extent. You may need to do some tuning, either to the engine or the application.
