Each record is about 40 bytes long; the key part is a combination of a LONG and two WORDs. Records arrive more or less sequentially (pre-ordered). On an HP 9000/375 (50 MHz 68030) and on a Sparc IPC, I get insertion speeds in the range of 120..140 records per second. Does anyone have an idea how this compares to other ISAM products? I don't really have a clear idea if that is fast or slow. On a related subject: Has anyone tried D-ISAM (supposed to be 100% compatible with C-ISAM, but available in C source)? Speed comparisons?
