Re: Question about ontape and informix 7.3

You should consider attending the "7.3 Features" class. There is a
very dense 21-page chapter on the changes and additions to archiving
tools in 7.3, two other chapters on archiving, and mention in still
other chapters. Among them:
- External BAR
- Restartable restore
- New onstat -d flags
- Physical restore update and reserve page changes
- Physical log changes during fast recovery
- "True" checkpoint during fast recovery
- Before image capturing during archive
- Timestamp wraparound issues improved
- Temp file can span multiple dbspaces
- 7.2 and 7.3 archives not compatible
- Archecker supported
- Parallel backups on NT with On-BAR
- Informix Storage Manger
On-BAR is the preferred method for archiving in 7.3, having all
the best of ontape and onarchive. (Both of which are still
supported in 7.3.)
You can find the training schedule online at the Informix web
site: http://www.informix.com/training .

Don't have that luxry to attend the class BUT i think I can make that
happen...
1) So it is safe to say that the feature of not spanning multiple temp
dbspaces has been improved...
2) doesn't onbar need a storage manager, every time that I have tried to use
it, it says:
Version 1.0.1 of the XBSA shared library is not compatible with version
1 of ON-Bar.
any help?
