LOCALE TROUBLE
Answered: amber (solid confidence) — Art Kagel's core fix (match DB_LOCALE to the database before dropping it) is sound, and Lester Knutsen later corrects Art's own tentative guess at the sysmaster table name (sysdbinfo) to the actual sysdbslocale, but the asker's thanks came before that correction and no final confirmation follows.

A user on Informix 11.7.FC7 (HP-UX Itanium) couldn't access or drop databases created before DB_LOCALE/CLIENT_LOCALE were set, getting "Failed to rebuild node contents: Database locale information mismatch." Replies advised setting DB_LOCALE (and CLIENT_LOCALE) in the environment to match the database's locale before connecting. To find each database's locale without connecting, Art Kagel suggested the sysmaster catalog or his utils2_ak tool (listdb7 -d db -D), and Lester Knutsen pointed to 'select * from sysmaster:sysdbslocale'. The poster thanked them; no confirmation of the final outcome is recorded.

Hi folks. It's me again. I'm trying to drop a database but I cant even access it. Everytime I try it the server gave me the message "Failed to rebuild node contents: Database locale information mismatch."I believe it is because some databases was created BEFORE the DB_LOCALE and CLIENT_LOCALE has been configured. And now I cant drop then.Informix 11.7 FC7 on HPUX Itanium 11.31 64 bit Is there a way to fix this problem ? Thanks a lot, André Luiz Rufino
Maybe you check db_locale value and export CLIENT_LOCALE to same value or a subset of it . Prior connecting to engine ? There is a sysmaster table (sysdbinfo I think - no access to a server today) that has the locale info for every database. If you have my utils2_ak package, the listdb7.ec utility will report it if you use the -D option: listdb7 -d mydatabase -D Art Art S.
