Check $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts it should include a line
mentioning your hostname and ending in a TCP/Ip service name.
It probably cannot find this service (check /etc/services or
NIS if you are running it). Either that or
a) DNS does not include your hostname
b) SOmething else is listening on that port already..
