dbimport and dbexport inconsistency 11.7 FC8
Posted in 2016
After upgrading to 11.7 FC8, dbexport was changing procedure owners in REVOKE statements: imported procedures owned by "someuser" were exported as owned by "informix". This caused round-trip import/export failures. The issue was identified as likely related to APAR IC68517 affecting dbexport permissions. No resolution was provided; user was directed to open an IBM support case.

Helo,
I recently upgraded informix growth edition 11.7 FC5 to ultimate edition 11.7
FC8. On a database process of import then exporting I found there is
inconsistency that generated on export script.
For example my import script has these lines:
revoke execute on procedure "someuser".procedure() from public as "someuser";
But when i export the database the script result is:
revoke execute on procedure "informix".procedure() from public as "someuser";
What caused the problem?
FYI, i upgrade by using existing chunk file, replacing program binary and
using existing onconfig and sqlhosts.
Thank you.
Hello.
I think you might be facing some defect.
Please open a PMR in IBM support, and confirm that.
I saw some APARs related to dbexport permissions. Eg IC68517.
That should be your problem.
Contact support, and they can confirm that and provide you with the
correction/patch/workaround.
Best regards.

is this a known issue that has been patch by official fix pack? Just to make sure. Thanks.
It will depend if you are facing a closed APAR, or one that is still opened.
Please open a support call for the right identification of your issue, and IBM
will tell you what to do.
Best regards.

I have a separate question. Why are you using dbexport/dbimport to upgrade
from one release and edition to another? You can do that in-place. Just
install the new release/edition in a separate directory, shut down the old
one, copy the ONCONFIG and sqlhosts files, and restart the new
release/edition.
Still worth reporting the bug of course and too late for you for this
version, but ...

Hi Art,
Actually I upgraded by replacing binary executable with no change on onconfig
& sqlhosts. The instance setting is the same. System catalog is
updated/upgraded successfully.
The dbimport and dbexport is used to replicate the database into several
instances. The issue happened is not because I'm import/export between version
but it happened on 11.7 FC8 version. So from an imported db then if I exported
then imported again, it will failed because the export is not producing the
same script result as the import. It happened only to several stored procedure
that has different owner than default owner (informix).
