Urgent:chunk pathnames in Informix

Hi,
We have informix6.0 installed on an SVR4 machine. Currently there are 2
chunks added to the informix root dbspace. As part ofupgradation from
motorola bug prompt m187 to m197, the name of the device files linked to
these chunks changed (from /dev/rdsk/m187_c0d2sd to
/dev/rdsk/m197_c0d2sd). But on initializing, Informix is still looking
for old device files(i.e /dev/rdsk/m187_c0d2sd). Is there a way to
change these links i.e. can we modify the pathnames without
re-installing informix?
We are able to get the chunk information through onmonitor but using
dbaccess results in permission denied (says no permission for modifying
SMI tables). As far as user previlege is concerned we are user informis
and have granted Update privilege to informix for the concerned
sysmaster tables (but the manual says we can't modify it). So, the
question is from where informix is reading this information (the
pathname of the chunks)?
The exact error is :
> 11:16:12 Cannot Open Primary Chunk '/dev/rdsk/m187_c0d2sb', errno = 2
> 11:16:12 Cannot Open Primary Chunk '/dev/rdsk/m187_c0d2sc', errno = 2
> 11:16:12 INFORMIX-OnLine Stopped
> 11:16:13 mt_shm_remove: WARNING: may not have removed all/correct segments
Any help will be appreciated.
with regards

Reinstalling Informix will probably not change anything. The
information contained in the reserved pages is still pointing to the
original links. Another reason to not use actual device files when
creating chunks.

The reserved pages from the root dbspace.

Two things you could try:
Make links with the original names pointing to the new ones. I don't know
if
that will work, but I can't see why not. Can't hurt, anyway.
or: dd the contents of the first chunk for you rootdbs (and its mirror) into
a
file. Take a hex editor and change all the <oldpaths> to <newpaths>.
dd it back on to the disk and pray ;-)

you need to contact Informix tech support tech support and have them patch the
new name into the root.
