How to make many copies of an instance

Hello all: I am trying to set up a development machine with three instances of our production database. What I would like to do is restore the first instance and then make copies of those raw chuncks. I would need to alter the paths of the reserve pages in the two copies to accomplish this. I don't expect Informix to support this. I am just looking for a more effecient way of making the copies then an export and import. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe Miller

You can't really do it. You might be able to directly alter the header
information of your rootdbs and chunks, but you'd really need to know what
you're doing. You might be able to do something clever with chroot.
In my opinion (but from previous correspondence on the newsgroup, in no-one
else's!) this is a major failing of IDS.
HPL or onunload is your best bet.

there is a way. we use it very much. the tool is called "tbmvchunk" and we got it from informix (germany). the tool is directly altering the header-information in rootdbs and has some restrictions. christian Joe_Miller@Administaff.com schrieb: > Hello all: > > I am trying to set up a development machine with three > instances of our production database.
