And if all of these answers are "yes", have you considered using HDR? It could save you *a lot* of time and effort every week! HTH, Paul Mosser -----Original Message----- From: Rock, Howard [mailto:HRock@iso.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 22, 2000 1:13 PM To: 'Informix List' Subject: restore question I am running Informix 7.24 and I have a question for anyone who can answer it I have been backing up my production server and restoring it on my backup system once a week for about 6 months. This past weekend I tried to restore but the restore never finished. It normally runs for 4 1/2 hours. I let it run for 8 hours the first time and 11 hours the second before I broke out of it. The interesting part is I CAN bring the system online and the only problem I have had is an assert failed on 1 index (Which I dropped and recreated). This is our backup server so the importance of this particular data being perfect is not the most important issue. The questions I have is: What could be the reasons that the restore never finished? (One clue is that it was waiting on a checkpoint( CHKPT BLOCKED ) & how can I correct this for my next restore next week? How clean is the data? I know this is an impossible question to answer but I would like opinions. I don't know what further information you might need but I will provide any more information that might help.
