Can we use Multiprocessor Option?

We have an IBM RS/6000 with 2 processors, running AIX 4.3.3 and Informix Online 7.31. In onmonitor there is a multiprocessor option, and our setting is set as if we had 1 processor. I have been told that we should only use the multiprocessor option if we have 3 or more processors. Is this true and if so, does anyone know why? Thanks, CKG

Set your onconfig to
MULTIPROCESSOR 0
NUMCPUVPS 1
SINGLE_CPU_VP 1
and collect some statistics on, for example, some massive job. Then set your
onconfig
to
MULTIPROCESSOR 1
NUMCPUVPS 2
SINGLE_CPU_VP 0
and repeat the job and collect some statistics again. The deltas should tell
you whether or not the specific setting of the parameters makes any (good)
difference.
