I did the isql command: CREATE SYNONYM MIKEFX FOR TABDEF for my application prior to compilation. Below is an excerpt of the globals.err file I received upon compilation. The 4gl Ref Man p. 7-56 says synonyms "provide an alternative name for a table or view." In what contexts do they work? They do work for me in isql queries, but is that all that synonyms are good for? ========================================================================= globals define m_mikefx record like mikefx.*, # Record like the header table | | The symbol "mikefx" is not the name of a table in the | specified database. | See error number -4320. p_mikefx record # Record like the header screen table_name like mikefx.table_name, | | The symbol "mikefx.table_name" is not the name of a column in the | specified database. | See error number -4322. table_purpose like mikefx.table_purpose end record, | | The symbol "mikefx.table_purpose" is not the name of a column in the | specified database. | See error number -4322. q_mikefx record # Parallel header record row_id integer # SQL rowid #_define_1 #_end end record,
