Error -243 Isam -101
Hello, We have a Java batch program that accesses an Informix database. It only does select operations. Every time, after a few hundred selections, it receives sqlerror -243, isam -101. We already added a 'set lock to wait', but no change. Different 'onchecks' on the table that is mentioned show no errors. Any one has any idea? Thanks in advance!

this can happen, when two processes are accessing the same data rows (even
when only reading, depending on
the actual isolation level). Also, if you modify lots of data, there might be
an internal index rebuild, which locks the index.
My usual setup to prevent this would be:
set isolation to dirty read;
set lock mode to wait 60; (1 minute, or whatever you want to set)
Also, check onconfig parameter USELASTCOMMITTTED, should be NONE to allow
dirty read.
In case you cannot afford dirty read in your app, (because there are expected
changes while the app is running),
you have to play around with the parameters or put the job in a time frame
where that activity is minimal.

Hard to say. You should open a PMR. But Informix version, isolation level and seetings for BATCHED* parameters would help. Regards.
