Follow up on: HELP! My logical logs are full. First of all - Thanks for all the quick responses, it has been a great help. This is the kind of situation, where I feel proud of being a part of the Informix mailing list. The support I have recieved from this list was the only one I got, because my local support firm was having reception, and my support in the States was closed because of Labour Day. SUMMARY: As a lot of you have remarked, the problem was coursed by the interruption of a process while it was in Long transaktion. This had filled the logical logs. It seems that Informix is aware of the problem (It has bug no B7433), and that a work around is promised in Informix OnLine 5.00. The solution was to initialize the dbspace and restore the level 0 archive bachup. When I initialized the dbspace I thought it would be a good idea to expand the logical log, but it wasn't. I wasn't able to restore my backup on the new dbspace. After the dbspace was initialized as before, the restore was completed and everything was running again. Currently I'm taking logical log, archive level 0 and tar backup every night, but after this, I'm planning to run continuos backup of the logical log to a Unix file in the daytime, and only do archive level 0 and tar backup (including the logical log file) at night. Is this a good idea? _____________ ______________________________________________________________ | ___ \\ | / \\ \\ Niels Berner, Pro Informatik. <berner@proinf.dk> | | | | Produktionsvej 2, DK-2600 GLOSTRUP, DENMARK. | \\___/ / Phone : +45 44 53 17 17.
