Hello, I've Informix SE 7.24 installed on my linux box. Now I want to access data on this database from a WindowsNT-Client. To achive this I started the sqlexecd daemon on my linux box with the following configuration: /etc/services: sqlexecd 1536/tcp /usr/local/informix/se724uc5_linux/etc/sqlhosts: puntocom sesoctcp skywalker sqlexecd /home/lars/dbtest: directory that contains the informix databases (e.g. stores7) How you can see, my informixserver is called "puntocom" and the hostname of the linux box running informix is "skywalker". To access the data from my NT-client I downloaded and installed the Informix-CLI SDK. When I now try to run the ILogin Demo that comes with the SDK, I enter the following data: Server: puntocom Hostname: skywalker Servicename: sqlexecd Protocolname: sesoctcp Username: informix Password: informix Stores Database: stores7 When I accept the dialog I get the -931 error message. What goes wrong? Thanks, Lars
Make sure that your services file has the proper entry on your NT box (located in /winnt/drivers/etc/services). You can find the service you're using by looking in the /etc/services file on your linux box (match up the service name with the one you specified in the sqlhosts table). Hope this helps Sean Lars Lathan wrote: > Hello, > > I've Informix SE 7.24 installed on my linux box. Now I want to access > data on this database from a WindowsNT-Client. You need to add sqlexecd 1536/tcp in the services file on your NT client. The pathname usually is: \\winnt\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\services Hal Maner M Systems International, Inc. www.msystemsintl.com Lars Lathan <larslathan@gestion400.com> wrote in message news:391982D2.40CCDD3A@gestion400.com... > Hello, > > I've Informix SE 7.24 installed on my linux box. Hello Sean, thank you for your answer. Now I added the service to the service file on my nt-client, but now when I try to connect to a database, e.g. stores7 the demo program doesn't find it. My databases on the linux server are located in /home/lars/dbtest, so before starting the sqlexecd daemon on the server I set the environment varible DBPATH to /home/lars/dbtest. Do you have any idea what goes wrong? Thanks, Lars.
