Add chunk.

Hello,
I am a newbie.
Working with AIX 4.3.2 and IDS 7.30 UC7.
After adding a second chunk to a dbspace I got the error message:
extents overlap(oncheck -ce).
Chunk was successfully added and onstat -d shows the new chunk.
What is the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Fredo David

Sounds like an Informix bug. What does oncheck -pe give for
the dbspace?

It's not telling you that the chunks overlap but that somehow, probably
due to an engine bug, the engine has created extents in different tables
that overlap, ie the start + length of some extent is greater than the
start address of some other extent. Run the suggested oncheck -ce and see
what is reported and suggested.

Log a call with Informix, something funny is happening.

Thanks for help. Informix told me that it is a known bug. Not the
database engine is the reason but the operating system. Some
versions of AIX with some IDS show this problem.
I could fix it and added the chunk without errors.
