Hi
Please let me know how the temporary dbspace can be freed. I am working on
IDS 2000 on NT & the command given was
select first 100 * from billed_calls order by callbilldt
The row count for the table mentioned above is 6.2 million .
The size of tempdb space is 2GB.
Step that I took but did get any result.
1. I logged out of my session.
2. Brought the IDS down & started it again
even after the 2 step the tempdb space was not getting freed.
Looking forward for an early reply.

Hi,
if the dbspace mentioned is really a temporary dbspace,
you can drop the dbspace. Bring your system into the
Administrator Mode and drop the dbspace. Should work
if you have no archive process running. Afterwards
you might create the dbspace again.
If you would like the query to run daily, I think it
should help to create an index on the column callbilldt.
I don't know if this is an option for NT, but it's worth
a try. Set DS_TOTAL_MEMORY as high as possible and rerun
the query without an index, but set your PDQPRIORITY to
95 ( depends on MAX_PDQPRIORITY ). This will save some
disk space and because the error you've got depends on
the size of the temp table, this might also avoid the
problem. A temp dbspace error was reported for very early
versions of 7.1x UC and TC. What version do you use ?
Best regards
