Does Informix have a SET TIMING ON function? SET TIMIMG ON is the Oracle function. I'm trying to tune a bunch of queries, and would like the db to time the how long the query takes . thanks, gs

No but SET EXPLAIN ON will report its cost calculation which is a very good indicator of comparative runtimes of queries if the UPDATE STATISTICS have been performed properly and recently. -- Art S. Oh, I forgot to mention, Jonathan Leffler's sqlcmd (dbaccess
replacement) implements a timer you can use as you describe. Get it

Are you in a UNIX environment? I always use 'timex', as in
timex dbaccess <dbase_name> <SQL file>
