Re: Support for Informix 7.24

I've seen you comment on the negative responses you got, but you also received some constructive suggestions as well. You have active maintenance. Whether you plan to actually install it or not, you should get IDS.2000 NOW while it's still free. If I was in your position, I'd order 7.31 immediately. As soon as you get it, order IDS.2000. That way you have both version available to you at your convenience. I would also bring this to your account rep's attention and let him/her know about your situation. If they don't address it, then ask to speak to the district sales manager. Informix CAN and WILL work with other vendors in helping them do ports or upgrades. There's a special program that is specifically targeted for 7.x to 9.x ports. Someone else made another suggestion that might help you in the short term as well--bring up your application on a test machine with 7.31, which will be supported at least until the end of next year. You're already in a situation where Informix won't support your current version of the database (unless your maintenance specifically says so)...is the application vendor supporting you? Either way, moving to 7.31 at least gives you Informix support on the database side. Regardless of what you do, I strongly recommend you contact your Informix sales rep or SE. I'm interested in which company you're with, if you don't mind emailing me offline. --Chuck From: jblatz2@my-deja.com To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Support for Informix 7.24 Date sent: Fri, 29 Sep 2000 01:27:36 GMT Organization: Deja.com - Before you buy.
