Hi
I am running IDS-7.3 My logical log device is set to /dev/null.
The following message is displayed on my screen:
"Logical Log Files are Full - Backup is needed"
When I do a onstat -l I can see that all the log are full but also
backed up. Am I missing the train?
Can any body give me some advice?
Thanks

First, check the items that Art Kagel suggested to you in an earlier posting.
If a long transaction is not the cause of your problem, you might be running
into something I discovered back in 7.23.UC1.
In this earlier version, if you changed the LTAPEDEV to /dev/null after the
engine was initialized, log behavior would appear to be normal (onstat -l
output and all). But when you wrapped back to the first logical log, the
engine would force you to perform a logical log backup. I found that if you
initialized the engine with LTAPEDEV already set to /dev/null, then all was
well. If you changed the LTAPEDEV parameter to /dev/null after you
initialized your instance, you might want to try bouncing the engine (after
backing up the logs, of course) and see if the problem persists.
Good luck,
Bob
