IDS freeze when waiting on a mutex

Hello All, We are running IDS 7.24UC5 on HP-UX 10.20 using Informix 4GL tools. I have been experiencing an engine freeze lately, and all user sessions are waiting on mutex. I dont know how to recover from this, and always resort to bouncing the engine. Is there a better way ? Thanks Alex
