SDK2.5 OLEDB installation problem

The installation for Informix client SDK 2.5 does not install the OLEDB drivers properly, you need to register the file ifxoledbc.dll found in the C:\\Program Files\\Informix\\Client-SDK\\bin directory. Just run regsvr32 ifxoledbc.dll in above directory. It should then register it properly. Apparently it's the win200 installation that does not work properly. I hope this works . I got an error on win pc's of "Provider is no longer available. Ensure the provider is installed properly" BUT, I now have a different problem. I can connect to the database but I cannot see any of it's contents? If you find out please could you let me know. I had the same registration problem, by the way. This OLEDB provider and last two releases of the ODBC driver have both had rather obvious problems ... I think quality/testing at Informix is slipping a little :-) Ciao Fuzzy ;-)

I have uninstalled it and run it again but I still cannot see any tables, etc. I have tried to use DTS in MSSQL7 it gave me "ISAM error, No record found, no base table found". Does this mean that the OLEDB on win machines or Informix are not working? Far more likely the DTS is so Microsoft-centric it doesn't realise other providers don't implement the add-ons MS uses. I'm thinking of the iRowsetFastload method, which so far only the MS providers implement. DTS usually tries to use this, and the Informix provider doesn't support the method. (This is just speculation ... there may be an entirely different reason.) We have no problems using the documented methods in the Informix programers ref for OLE DB. Ciao Fuzzy ;-)
