Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

When doing a dbexport to a certain file system, does it also use tmp space
while doing the work?

I would not have thought so - at least not significantly. It should just be
producing schemas and running selects against each table. A dbimport would
because of index builds, etc.
I would be interested if it you are seeing anything different.

You could run onstat -D and monitor the reads and writes to your temp dbspace
while doing an export to find out.
