Hi Family, this is your occasional cousin. ;-)
I needed to be able to replicate the dbspace configuration of one IDS
system into a different instance. So I dug up Peter Stiglich's
copy_spaces. Unfortunately, I had some problems with it (sorry, Peter)
as well as the issue of BLOBspace support - copy_spaces doesn't do it.
I have not tried Peter Tashkoff's disk_struct either.
So I wrote a new one - dup-spaces.sh - to support temp spaces and blob
spaces. It also figures out by itself the page size of the running
system.
Unlike Peter's version, dup-spaces is a wrapped AWK script. However,
the basic logic - analyze the output of onstat -d - is basically the
same logic as Peter's (the Peter principle? ;-). You can view it under
URL:
http://www.iiug.org/members/memb_software/archive/dup_spaces
and download it as URL:
ftp://ftp.iiug.org/pub/informix/pub/dup_spaces.gz
FOr searching, it is listed as dup_spaces in the index.
Enjoy! (If you really do enjoy it, you *gotta* get out more!)
