Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
I have installed innovator-c 11.7 with default settings.
when I do onstat -d
/usr1/Informix/ol_informix1170/dbspaces/rootdbs
/usr1/Informix/ol_informix1170/dbspaces/plogdbs
/usr1/Informix/ol_informix1170/dbspaces/llogdbs
/usr1/Informix/ol_informix1170/dbspaces/datadbs
/usr1/Informix/ol_informix1170/dbspaces/tempdbs
I would like to move the above to a different location for example
/usr1/Informix/ol_informix1170/TESTdbspaces/rootdbs
I tried moving the folder dbspaces to TESTdbspaces
I updated the onconfig.ol_informix1170 to point to TESTdbspaces
But oninit won't start stating it can't find rootdbs.
What am I missing?

I think you should be able to do a cold restore from backup, and use the
-rename option of 'ontape'.

I believe one problem is that the reserved pages stored on disk at the
beginning of rootdbs still point to the old location. These reserved pages are
read at startup so that oninit can find the rest of the disk files. Even if
you change the location in the onconfig file, these reserved pages are what is
used to find all of the other chunks and dbspaces. If your rootdbs has
multiple chunks, that definitely would cause a problem, as the second chunk
would not exist where the reserved pages say it should be. Even if rootdbs is
a single chunk, the chunks that make up the remaining dbspaces are no longer
in the original location.
If you don't need the /usr1/Informix/ol_informix1170/dbspaces directory for
other things, you can create a symbolic link (Unix/Linux) or a junction
(Windows) so that your new .../TESTdbspaces points to the original
.../dbspaces directory, and put the files back in that directory. Otherwise,
the suggestion of renaming the files during ontape restore is probably your
best bet.
