Client SDK on Solaris 8

I tried to install the Informix Connect, SDK, ESQL (tried several versions including 9.13) on a SPARC Solaris 8 server. Whenever I open a connection to an Informix server I get the error- message: -25572 Network driver cannot bind a name to the port. I've performed the same installation on different versions of Solaris (2.5.1, 2.6) before and I never experienced any problems. Could this be a specific problem with Informix on Solaris 8?
