Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Tony asked for step-by-step instructions to set up an ODBC driver on Windows 9x to reach Informix on AIX, having installed INTERSOLV 3.11, and wanted a simple demo. Axel Sander suggested the free WinSQL tool to test the connection. Walt Hultgren pointed to a 1999 Washington DC-area Informix user group newsletter article by James Edmiston on the subject.

Is there a web site somewhere that shows step-by-step how to set up an
ODBC driver on a win9x machine to access an informix database running
on an AIX box?
I'm talking about step by step setting up the odbc client. I have
already installed INTERSOLV 3.11, but not sure how to configure it
properly.
Also talking about maybe a SIMPLE Just enough to connect to informix,
select a database, and maybe select * from it, vbscript demo?
c/c++ would also work. Even Visual basic would be ok too :)
Thanks! :)

Try WinSQL from www.imranweb.com (it's free) to check out your ODBC
connection. It contains help for setting up the driver, too.

James Edmiston wrote a very good article on the subject for the April,
1999, issue of the Washington, DC, Area Informix User Group newsletter.
It's archived on their website. The issue in question can be found at:
