Morning all, anyone know when the FAQ is going to get updated again? The current version still makes for good reading, but there are a load of new questions I see often which aren't even near it. brett
Now!! I have put out a new version with - RAID 5 diatribe from Art! - Outer join info from John L - Java stuff in the tools section (Sujit Pal is turning into a quiet JDBC guru!). - Lots more updates Version number bumped to 1.20 I plan to add:- - To the new section update the header to mention Art Kagel and John L's valuable contributions! A current bugs section which lists the bugs which have come up a lot on the newsgroup in the last few months..hopefully to increase the signal-to-noise ratio and allow pointers to the FAQ rather then repeated discussions. - Info on the -1263 'datetime' bug in IDS 9.2x (as this seems to be coming up a lot!). - Info on the strings overwriting bug in 4gl 7.30.UC1 as it is a serious 4gl bug in 7.3x. (And it is Fixing in 7.30.UC4)! NOTE NOTE: This section will be trimmed regularly when a fix has been out for a few months. Then the advice should be "upgrade!" rather than "we know about it - check the FAQ"! David. PS Anything else to add??? PPS Art - can you review the RAID section and possibly trim it. I think I found all your posts! - bob wrote in message ... >Morning all, > > anyone know when the FAQ is going to get updated again? David kill the 19 June posting on RAID5 it is completely redundant to the rest of the discussion. In 8.13 PC_HASHSIZE the note is incorrect. PC_HASHSIZE is related to PC_POOLSIZE, the former is the number of hash buckets and the latter is the number of entries permitted in each bucket. Similar entries for DS_HASHSIZE & DS_POOLSIZE should be added to control the size of the data distribution cache if needed. Art S.
