Informix Monitoring: Memory

On a stable system the number of memory segments allocated by the instance is static. This metric raises an alert if the number of memory segments alters. This might or might not be a real issue, but it is a indication of something out of the ordinary.

The current value is stored in memory file in the ONI_TMP directory. If the file is not there, then it will be created with current value from onstat -g seg.

If the lower value threshold is set 1 then the recorded value will be updated to the current value.

Do not rely on this alert to detect the type rapid allocation of memory segments that sometimes crashes the instance with out-of-memory issues
