Re: after adding DBSERVERALIASES into onconfig file

Nick,
Thank you so much for your help! You are right about the unique port id,
I did it and it works.
But one thing I don't like is that for a user to be able to access the
remote server without giving out been prompted for his password, he has
to be either trusted by the server (a entry in /etc/hosts.equiv) or he
has to have the same account accessible to the server and has access in
the .rhost. Does any body know if there is a better solution?

Kathy,
Try to make the service column in sqlhosts unique.
sqlhosts:
# added on Tue Dec 14 16:49:53 PST 1999
dataPower ontlitcp su598u 4010# added on Tue Dec 14 16:49:53 PST 1999
dataPowerShm onipcshm su598u 4010 (new: dummy1)
# remote server
dpTod ontlitcp su549u 4010 (new: 4011 from
/etc/services)
You may first try to online the server after commenting remote server
line
form sqlhosts and changing the serive name to dummy1 from 4010 (infect
ipcshm does not require /etc/service to run - dummy1 will be the
placeholder
only).
Let me know the results.
Regards,
Nick.
