Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
> Hello,
The only problem is that if the 'funnel' server is down you'll have to scramble
to get at the data. Why do you want to do this? What advantage to you see? We
access data from different servers in different apps, just use a startup script
to set up the correct INFORMIXSERVER value for each. Users run the script
rather than the binary. When apps need data from multiple servers we code other
environment variables to identify the server or qualified database name for
each and either access the data remotely through the initial connected database
or using separate connections for each database which tends to be faster (but
not worth the coding effort unless the data accessed is extensive).
