Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
I'm using the following command:
"ontape -r"
to restore a level 0 archive. The database being restored is big (20
some Gig). I've restored a copy of this database in the past
successfully. There were some additional chunks added to the original
copy since the last backup/restore attempt. I've gone ahead and added
these additional chunks to my copy of the database using the recommended
sizing. "onstat -d" output looks just like the original database.
However, when I try to do the restore, I get the following error:
Physical restore failed - The chunk '/dev/db1b' will not fit in the
space specified.
"db1b" is one of the additional chunks I've added. Anyone have a
suggestion/work-around?

Never mind. It turns out I was misreading the output of the "onstat -d"
from the original database. The size shown was in pages. Turns out a
page is 2 Meg on my system. Therefore the problem had to do with the
actual size of the logical volumes I created.
Hard to fit a "1000 Meg chunk in a 500 Meg partition". :-\\

Just like the error said...
